Kelsie Kimberlin is a proud Ukrainian American singer known for her strong vocal abilities and songs about issues that have an impact on the world. She is an international artist and also an activist. Kelsie is a prolific artist, writing and recording more than 100 original songs and releasing dozens that have generated tens of millions of views, plays, streams, and radio plays, along with hundreds of rave reviews from across the globe. Every song she records includes Grammy winners in the production process. Kelsie today released her third song of 2025, “Perfume,” a song about a boy who is so entranced by love and the scent of Kelsie’s perfume that he follows her everywhere. Its accompanying video, also the third one directed solely by Kelsie, was filmed while she was recently in Kyiv, Ukraine filming a movie about Ukrainian resistance and resilience.
"Perfume" is my third video of 2025 and, like the previous two, I filmed this in Kyiv, Ukraine during breaks of my full-length movie about Ukraine. However, unlike my other songs, there is no hidden or dual meaning to this song other than that it shows the beauty and love that Ukrainians have for each other and their proud capital. In the video, I don't say a word to my partner, or sing along with the music. Instead, my presence and my perfume are enough to draw us close to each other and keep him following me through the cobblestone streets of Kyiv. The scenes are touching, meaningful, and memorable. Perfume, like love, can be intoxicating and sometimes no words are needed to describe the powerful attraction of both. Although the video seems idyllic, just hours after we filmed it , a powerful attack drone hit an apartment just minutes from where I was having dinner with the film crew, killing 15-year old Mariya Troyanovskaya. I want to dedicate this video to her. P.S. For those Beatles fans, you will note that the musical tag line at 2:38 is a nod to the end of the song, "I Will. -Kelsie says.
“I have to admit that in high school, I read the book ‘Perfume’ and watched the accompanying film about a young man in Paris who was intoxicated by the smells of perfume worn by the women in the city. This inspired my song but instead of the dark turn described in the book, my song is uplifting and about how love, like perfume, can be so mysteriously attracting. Perfume is my metaphor for love. The right perfume like the right love is so powerful that no words are needed,” -Kelsie says.
Kelsie Kimberlin is a 25-year-old American - Ukrainian musician and singer. Her work is not only accessible and entertaining but also steeped with important social themes and dual meanings underscoring her deep understanding of the power of creative music to evoke change. From an early age, Kelsie immersed herself in music, singing in choirs, participating in Yoko Ono’s Peace Project, and spending much of her childhood in music studios working on an endless stream of original songs. She participates in every aspect of her art — writing, recording, performing, and filming her videos.
