The Beard and The Bird is a Bi-Coastal Duo consisting of Jon Hasz (Vocals, Guitar, Slide) and Cat Hasz (Vocals and Upright Bass). The Beard and The Bird have been performing together since 2021. They appear regularly at venues throughout Southern California and on the East Coast around Buffalo, New York. Their musical genres span from 1920’s western swing to modern pop/folk with a Rockabilly twist, with both starting their musical careers in their small-town’s punk scene.
”Thankful” is a love song dedicated by Jon Hasz to his wife, written and recorded together by the couple after almost a decade of marriage. As an expression of his gratitude for the pair’s unconventional life, Jon wrote the song as a gift for Cat for their eighth wedding anniversary. Performed in their jaunty signature blend of rockabilly and western swing flavored with influences of Django Reinhardt and gypsy jazz, The Beard and The Bird serve up a lilting melody, insightful lyrics, and a playful, upbeat tempo with an old timey-sounding flair. Jon and Cat both provide vocals, with Jon performing on guitar and dobro and Cat slapping her standup bass. Stay tuned!
